Keith Rothfus, challenger for Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District, was endorsed today by Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund for his strong stance on 2nd Amendment rights.
For nearly four decades, GOA has been working tirelessly to protect gun owners’ rights. Rothfus is running against incumbent Democratic Congressman Mark Critz (D-Johnstown).
“We are proud to endorse Keith Rothfus for Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District,” said Tim Macy, Vice-Chairman of GOA. “The 2nd Amendment is being destroyed by compromisers in Washington. Keith Rothfus is the candidate in this race who will stand firmly in the defense, and in support, of our right to keep and bear arms.”
Rothfus responded to the endorsement.
“I am honored to receive this endorsement recognizing my strong support for our 2nd Amendment rights,” Rothfus said. “These rights are currently under attack from the Obama Administration, and we must not waver in their defense. I pledge to protect our 2nd Amendment rights from any and all threats as I work to represent the people of Southwestern Pennsylvania.”
Macy drew a fierce distinction between Rothfus and his opponent.
“Keith’s opponent, Congressman Critz, shockingly and disdainfully said that we need to put Obama’s Fast and Furious gun-running scandal behind us and suggested the crisis was not something Americans cared about. But we still have a dead border agent and more questions than answers. Keith Rothfus is not so quick to give up on justice, and he will be a great representative and protector of our gun rights.
“Congressman Critz also refused to sign a bipartisan letter to the Obama Administration urging them not to not put at risk Americans’ 2nd Amendment rights during the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) negotiations. By contrast, Rep. Jason Altmire, whom Critz beat in the primary, did sign the letter.
“And at the start of the current Congress, Critz voted for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House. More than fifteen conservative Democrat representatives, including Jason Altmire, voted against Pelosi. But Critz stood with the anti-gun former Speaker, despite her repeated calls to renew the Clinton gun ban, to close down gun shows, and to outlaw millions of magazines that could hold more than ten rounds.”
